The obsession with the beauty of Robert Mapplethorpe is proposed in the exhibition on display at the Grand Palais in Paris from March 26 to July 13. Mapplethorpe was one of the great masters of photography, and his works are all inspired by the pursuit of aesthetic perfection.

The two hundred images that trace the artist's career from the 70s to 1989, the year of his death, sum up the philosophy of the revolutionary photographer and highlight the important use of black and white in the representation of naked bodies, especially homosexual men and white blacks portrayed in statuesque poses.
Few are the works of Mapplethorpe that portray female bodies, such as the bodybuilder Lysa Lion and Patti Smith. His works of art contribute to the destruction of the canons established by the culture of the image proposing itself as a witness shocking and controversial of all that should not be shown.
