Big Air Package is the new venture of Christo and Jeanne-Claude exposed to the Gasometer in Oberhausen, in Germany. The work is the largest structure made of plastic and air, without metal skeleton that was never built, a giant bubble of inflated fabric within of the exhibition structure in steel.
The visitor is invited, through an airlock, to cross the sculpture experiencing the feeling to go beyond one dimension. The diffused light and loud sounds and noises are specifically designed to lose the conception of the perimeter of the structure and volume, at the limit between the physical and metaphysical creating feelings of disorientation.
Christo, who until now had always worked with his wife Juanne-Claude, make this type of "wrappings" since the 60s of all sizes and materials. His works want to emphasize the beauty and presence of objects through casings, creating a sort of abstraction.
