The Jeongok Prehistory Museum is the museum of prehistory realized in South Korea, located at the palaeolithic site in the Jeongok district. The project is by X-TU Architects. The architecture is designed to recall natural forms of surrounding plants and animals; the structure seems to meander between the original forms of the territory. The exterior of the building is completely covered in stainless steel and glass to retrieve the forms of a geological stratification.
The idea of interior design is to give the impression to go across an excavation in the rocks. The exhibition zone occupies a long architectural path, areas open to each other, regular and artificial that give a sense of continuity and fluidity emphasized by the natural light that filtering in is reflected in a lot of different ways. A wide and comfortable ramp develops in a spiral from the lowest level to the roof of the complex, an intriguing journey into space and history.
